Governor Snyder says while the presidential election is important, he's focusing more attention on Michigan

MARQUETTE -- This time next week, the presidential election results will be pouring in, and when it comes to Michigan, Governor Rick Snyder is set to make our state's vote count.

"I really encourage people to vote. But yeah, I'm a supporter of Governor Romney because Washington is a mess. If you look at it, Michigan's the role model for what Washington needs to do," said Governor Snyder.

Governor Snyder says while the presidential election is important, he's focusing more attention on Michigan, and he thinks Washington could learn a thing or two.

"In a year and a half, we balanced our budgets, we're paying down debt, and we've done tax reform and our economy is responding. One of the things that is holding us back more than anything else is the mess in Washington. Let's get that resolved and you'll see even faster growth here in Michigan," Snyder added.

At Friday's meeting, Governor Snyder focused on clearing up any misconceptions when it came to the six proposals.

Senator Tom Casperson, who mediated the meeting, hopes the governor clarifying proposal confusion will play a role in voter decisions.

"It was encouraging to see him come up here and talk about it. We need to have that dialogue so that the people can vote informed. I don't think the people want to just go vote--they want to vote informed, and that's hopefully what we're trying to do here," said Casperson.

The governor will continue his bus tour Wednesday in Lansing and Jackson.
