MARQUETTE -- Anti Benishek protesters took to the streets in Marquette Thursday afternoon. A small group of people hung a sign on the Champion Street bridge over US-41. The sign read "Keep Medicare, Fire Dr. Dan." The protesters were all from the Marquette area and represented the Good Jobs Now Coalition.
For the past several months, the group has repeatedly protested the congressman's position on taxes and Medicare.
"I think people in the Upper Peninsula are getting the message that we need real representation, not Dr. Dan Benishek," said protester, Zelda Ziemer.
Marquette City Police removed the sign within an hour. It was declared a visual hazard to drivers.
