ONTONAGON (AP) -- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is changing regulations for catching two types of fish:  muskellunge and northern pike.

The DNR says the changes were approved Thursday by its director at the Michigan Natural Resources Commission meeting in Ontonagon.

Under the revised policy, anglers may keep only one muskellunge per season instead of one per day starting in April.

For northern pike, existing limits on number and sizes for anglers would remain on most of Michigan's lakes. There would be some changes for lakes with stunted pike populations.

In another change, the DNR says crossbows may now be used, effective immediately, for fishing on lakes where bow and arrow were previously allowed.
