Looking for transportation? New website can help

HOUGHTON -- The Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region is unveiling a brand new transportation website.

The site gives residents of the western U.P. a place to find alternative transportation methods like taxi, carpool and non-motorized transportation systems. After last year's transit study on the four western U.P. counties, WUPPDR says starting a website was one of the recommendations.

"Really it's just because people have difficulty finding the information they're looking for without calling every provider separately," said Jerald Wuorenmaa, WUPPDR assistant planner. "I say that because this is mostly focused on the transit part of it and the benefit is bringing together all the information in a centralized place."
