The rain clears away tonight

Sunday is a bit of a transition day for the weather. It has rained at least a little bit every day since September 16. Sunday will see some more, but high pressure will clear things up for most of the upcoming week.

Sunday will see continued lake effect rain showers in the day and early evening. As winds shift to a more westerly flow, lake enhancement will diminish. Rain showers will eventually linger in only the northeastern counties, but all rain and most cloud cover will clear away by the evening. Sunday's highs will be around 50, much like Saturday. Conditions will likely be breezy.

Sunday night will cool down to lows in the 40s around the lakes and 30s inland. Skies will be mostly clear and winds will decrease.

Monday will be warmer in the 60s as winds take a southwesterly turn, but wind speeds will be high. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny.

Monday night will see lows mainly in the 40s. As a weak cold front passes there could be a light sprinkle or lake effect shower behind it as winds turn again out of the north.

Tuesday will have highs in the 50s to around 60. Skies will be mostly sunny unless you're near Lake Superior. As winds persist out of the north, a lake effect sprinkle is possible.

Highs for much of the upcoming week will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s and there will be much less rain than the previous week. On the Late News I plan to include a summary of the all of the rain we've had.

As fall is now upon us, fall colors are approaching their peak depending on where you are. The Weather Channel produces this graphic depicting fall colors across the nation, and the National Weather Service has more information. For more, please join me on Facebook.
