MARQUETTE -- The First United Methodist Church in Marquette was packed Sunday to welcome the new District Superintendent.

Reverend Elbert Dulworth was installed as the District Superintendent for the Marquette District. Dulworth is originally from Detroit, but has a history with the U.P.

In the early and mid 2000s, he preached in Crystal Falls and Amasa, and then at the First United Methodist Church, where they held Sunday's ceremony.

Bishop Deborah Kiesey made her first visit to Marquette to preside over the installation. The ceremony also attracted many Methodist clergy from all over the U.P.

"I am excited about all of the opportunities to work with the wonderful people of the Marquette District. They're doing great things in missions and ministries all around the Upper Peninsula and in the northern half of the Lower Peninsula," said Rev. Elbert Dulworth, the new District Superintendent.

Dulworth is expecting to hold the position for at least six years. He will supervise 57 churches and 35 pastors.
