SAWYER -- Golfers teed off to raise money for American heroes Saturday morning in Sawyer.
Nearly 200 people took to the greens of the Red Fox Run Golf Course for the second annual Warrior Relief Fund Golf Outing. The relief fund, which sponsored the event, is an organization dedicated to helping veterans of war and their families in Marquette County.
The majority of the money raised goes to the fund, while 40 percent goes to the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
"We've had a huge outpouring of support from the community, from the entire county. (We have) sponsors for the holes, we've had a ton of volunteers coming out to help, and we had no trouble filling the golf outing," said Liz Mathie, an organizer of the event.
The groups hope to raise over $10,000 from the event.
