ALGER COUNTY -- The man convicted of running over his girlfriend in Alger County last year was back in court on Wednesday for sentencing.
In July, Thomas Murdock was found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter, but the jury found him guilty on a number of other charges stemming from the incident, including operating while intoxicated causing death.
Wednesday morning in Alger County Circuit Court, Murdock was sentenced to two to fifteen years in prison.
In June 2011, Murdock was driving a vehicle that hit and killed his girlfriend, Lisa Hardwick, at his home.
He read an apology during his sentencing hearing.
"I want to talk about Lisa for a moment," Murdock told the court. "Lisa was not only my friend of 35 years, we were also very much in love."
During a four day trial, Murdock was also found guilty of operating while intoxicated third offense, driving on a suspended license, and possession of marijuana.
