MARQUETTE -- The third annual Marquette Marathon is coming up and volunteers are needed.
The race is expected to bring in more than 600 participants. The Marquette Marathon also serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Money raised by the marathon will go to the Blueprint for Health Center and music programs at Marquette Public Schools.
"The volunteers, we have many different needs for them--people along the race rout to cheer on the racers and show them that Marquette is the beautiful place that it is, and the community is so engaging in all these activities, so it would be great to see some people," said Race Director Jeri Mommaerts.
Packet pickup, as well as a kids' race, will be held at the Marquette Commons on August 31. The marathon will begin at 7:30 a.m. on September 1.
