MARQUETTE -- The Peter White Public Library in Marquette hosted its first Medicaid Boot Camp on Thursday.
The boot camp was meant to educate all who attended about the Medicaid program. It was organized by Elder Law of Michigan out of Lansing, which specializes in providing legal assistance over the phone, including issues regarding Medicaid.
Three speakers covered various Medicaid topics like who qualifies, home and community based services, and how to apply for Medicaid. More than 30 people signed up this year.
"We've had wonderful participants, and they've really learned a lot, and they've shared a lot with us," said Elder Law of Michigan Exec. Director Kate White. "They've asked great questions, and I think everyone is learning a great deal about Medicaid."
Elder Law of Michigan hopes to come back for more Medicaid boot camps in Marquette next year.
