ESCANABA --

Most of the traffic at the U.P. State Fair earlier Monday was from vendors and exhibitors setting up. The fair opened its gates at 5 p.m. From games to carnival rides to a variety of food, it's an event that's sure to please anyone.

“People should attend the U.P. State Fair because it's a great family-friendly place to visit,” explains Vickie Micheau, Managing Agent of the U.P. State Fair.  “We’ve added a lot of value. Our gate admission during the week is eight dollars for adults, five dollars for children."

Micheau say the fair is growing every year, thanks to a lot of community interest and investment. And thousands will fill up the fairgrounds.

So what entertainment acts should you watch out for?

“Our grandstand entertainment is top-notch this year. We have two Country award winners with Thompson Square, the Eli Young Band, and, of course, we have a great rock group, Tesla," Micheau explains.

The general events schedule is Scout Day on Tuesday, Wednesday is Ladies Day, Thursday is Governors/Veterans/Seniors Day, Friday is Youth Day, and Saturday is Agriculture Day.

The fair wraps up on Sunday, Family Day.
