ESCANABA -- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area has a budget of just under $200,000 and they're always seeking community members willing to donate money, or better yet, donate their time.
The non-profit agency is completely community funded. It doesn't receive any state or federal grants. Last year they served just over 400 children in community and school-based programs.
Executive Director Tanya Schuster says they're always looking for adults to volunteer and mentor kids who may need help problem solving or dealing with life's complications.
"The mentoring programs are really important," said Schuster. "We're giving our youth in our communities the opportunity to have a sense of future and to see what else is out there."
