MARQUETTE -- Thirty-two-year-old Corey Lemieux was sentenced to one year in jail Monday. At a preliminary hearing in May, Lemieux admitted to pushing his 70-year-old grandmother Cora and obstructing a police officer.
The incident happened in Forsyth Township in late April. Monday in Marquette District Court, Lemieux said that his grandmother had forgiven him. But the courts did not.
"Domestic violence second, domestic violence third two counts, domestic violence, domestic violence, domestic violence, felonious assault," said Marquette County District Judge Dennis Girard. "So based on your history, 365 days is the least time that you deserve."
Lemieux did receive credit for time served. He began serving his sentence immediately.
