There could have been a violation of the Michigan Open Meetings Act
MARQUETTE -- Last week, NMU named a replacement for President Les Wong who announced his departure. Now, there is some confusion over how the new president was elected.
The Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Tuesday to discuss if the appointment of David Haynes, who's now been called an interim president, could have been a violation of the Michigan Open Meetings Act. We contacted trustee Stephen Adamini who says that three members of the executive committee made the decision. By law, all trustees should be involved in making that decision.
The meeting is open to the public. It's scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in room 602 of the Cohodas building on the campus of N.M.U.
