Members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming are asking for your help to re-stock the shelves of the Salvation Army and St. Vincent DePaul this Spring
ISHPEMING -- If you live in the Negaunee or Ishpeming area, you may have noticed something hanging from your door knobs. It's an empty grocery bag, there for you to fill if you can.
Members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming are asking for your help to re-stock the shelves of the Salvation Army and St. Vincent DePaul this Spring. It's all part of a drive they call Project Food for a Neighbor. Dozens of youth spent some time Saturday morning delivering more than 4,000 bags to homes in the area.
Residents have a week to fill them.
"These same crews of drivers and kids will be going all over those mapped sections looking for these bags with the florescent tags sitting curbside full of non-perishable foods, paper or hygiene products and we sincerely hope that everyone will recognize the need," said Richard Derby, project chairman.
The pickup is next Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon.
