LAKE LINDEN -- The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the Trap Rock River near Lake Linden.
During this time of year it's common for warm temperatures to cause the snow pack to melt rapidly. According to the advisory bank, full stage is seven feet and on Sunday night, the river rose to 8.7 feet.
Officials say there's water in low lying areas that might not completely stop traffic, but it can alter the roadway.
"What I would encourage residents to do is stay off the roads to the extent that you can," said Emergency Coordinator Jack Dueweke. "Local people have to travel the roads to get back and forth to their house. They should continue to do that, but people that don't need to be there should probably not travel on the roads right now."
Officials also say travel should be minimal because when there's water over the roads and people drive on them, it tends to erode the roadway which creates a lot more work when the time comes to restore them.
The advisory is in effect until 11 p.m.
