NEGAUNEE -- One program this weekend hopes to reach out to those who have been affected by the recent suicides in Marquette County.
In response to those deaths in the Negaunee and Marquette area schools, the Marquette Alger Regional Educational Service Agency is hosting a community conversation.
Author and educator Dave Opalewski will be speaking about how the community is impacted by youth crisis and suicide.
"The origin behind this event actually started with some students from Ishpeming Public High School they approached their principal and the principal brought the superintendent in and the students asked what do we do to avoid our school being next," said Deb Asano of MARESA.
The program is scheduled for Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The community is encouraged to come and discuss how they've been affected and how they can help prevent these tragedies in the future.
