ESCANABA -- Participants in the community leadership and development program, Delta Force, made some tough decisions during a budget meeting Thursday.
But it was only a mock budget meeting. It was part of government day, which took place at the Escanaba City Council chambers.
Participants took on the roles of city officials and were asked to make choices on a million dollar total budget and how it would be distributed.
"Well, it came down to the library issue. Cuts were made in different areas, and apparently the library was cut right out. So, that was an unusual choice," said Delta County Clerk and Delta Force participant, Nancy Kolich.
The students also learned about Delta County government history and attended a panel discussion with members of city, township, and county governments.
