MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Commission has rejected a proposal to have boaters pay to moor their boats outside the lower harbor breakwater.
The commission heard public comment from several residents. They expressed concern with the city's plan to have boaters pay a private business to moor in Marquette's Lower Harbor.
It's an area that does not require fees from boaters.
The city commission reviewed a contract with a private business to run the mooring area and voted it down by a 4 to 3 vote.
The commission then voted to have the city accept new proposals to have the mooring area more organized.
