MARQUETTE -- While mushers were busy racing, others raced on skis this weekend. But if you went to Big Bay to witness it, you missed it.

Due to some work being done at the usual trail in Big Bay, the annual Honey Bear Classic was held at the Noquemanon Forestville Trail on Sunday. Nearly 70 skiers raced in several divisions including a 25K and 12K freestyle race.

"This year it's at the Noquemanon Trail Network; this is due to logging in the Big Bay pathway, and the trail conditions here are great. We have over a foot of snow, the temperatures are wonderful, and there's light snow in the air," said Nicole Dewald, director of the Noquemanon Trail Network.

The races are a fundraiser for the Big Bay pathway.
