Counterfeit bills make their way to Hancock

HANCOCK -- According to the Hancock Police Department a local financial business received two fake twenty dollar bills.
Police say the phony bills were deposited within the last week. Hancock PD is warning all local merchants to keep an eye out for any phony bills.
Michigan state law says trying to pass counterfeit money is a felony, and if a person is charged and convicted of using counterfeit money, the penalty is up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $2,500.
