HOUGHTON -- The Portage Lake District Library held a very unique petting zoo for kids early on Tuesday.
Kids got a chance to "pet" all of the different sizes of the cello. The theme of the event was Big Violins for Little People, and an instructor from the Copper Country Suzuki Association was there to teach the kids how to tell the cello apart from other types of string instruments.
Students from the Copper Country Suzuki Association also got a chance to play for the audience.
"My favorite part of the cello is that there's just a lot of fun things you can do that you can't do with some other instruments," said cello player Andrew Plummer.
After a quick lesson on how to hold the cello and the proper technique on where to place the bow, the mini musicians in the crowd were given the opportunity to play their own tunes.
