MARQUETTE -- A local Christian book store will soon have a new home.

The facility located at the corner of US-41 and Commerce Drive is more spacious for the Lighthouse Christian Books and Gifts than their previous location at 1313 S. Front St. It's also in the middle of a busy street, which owners say is a good thing. The store has been in operation for nearly 60 years in Marquette.

It offers Christian books and movies, along with free Wi-Fi, coffee and other refreshments.

"It's for convenience," said Lois Forrester, store manager. "It's also more mainstream. People are even coming from Escanaba, Gladstone, Rapid River, Munising, Sault Ste. Marie; I have had customers from Iron Mountain because all other Christian bookstores have closed, and we are it."

The store will open Monday.
