MARQUETTE -- Marquette Mountain was a bustling place for skiers and snowboarders Sunday. That's because it was World Snowboard Day.
Ski hills across the globe celebrated the event. Marquette Mountain celebrated by having double trouble DJ's provide music. They also offered free snowboard lessons and hosted a rail jam. The rail jam was judged by Marquette Mountain instructors and representatives from Casualties: Skate, Snow & Surf.
Prizes were offered to winners, but World Snowboard Day is more about fun than anything else.
"People are just out to have some fun and maybe win a couple prizes, and we're just all about having fun. Everybody should be out on a day like today," Brian Thompson, a snowboard instructor, said.
Sunday was also Carload Day at Marquette Mountain. One vehicle even had 28 people inside. Another carload day is scheduled for next month.
