MARQUETTE -- Marquette Mountain is aiming to get students on the slopes in a way that may be easier and cheaper for parents.
They're rebooting an old after school program that busses students to the mountain after school. They'll be able to get a packaged bundle with a lift ticket, rental, dinner and a one-time ski lesson as well as transportation to and from the hill.
Marquette Mountain employees say they're pushing the program in order to help area children get active while learning to ski and snowboard properly.
"This is great for the kids that don't ski or snowboard because they can come out here, and also continue to learn," said Office Manager Hannah Erickson. "Also, the U.P. gets very long winters as we all know, and it's good to get kids out."
So far, transportation is organized through Checker Cab to Marquette and Bothwell schools Monday through Friday for a four week session in January.
