HOUGHTON -- Two Copper Country teens were in court Friday for their pretrials on attempted robbery charges. Gordon Lewis, 20, and Paden Rothenberger, 18, appeared before a judge in Houghton County Circuit Court.

Rothenberger entered a plea bargain last month and testified against Lewis to reduce his attempted robbery charges. He is to return to court next month. Lewis is charged with safe breaking. On Friday, his attorney asked the judge for that charge to go to a bench trial.

Lewis's other charges related to attempted larceny at the Michigan Tech Student Development Complex are expected to go to trial next year.
