Finnish independence celebrated in Marquette

MARQUETTE -- A special celebration took place on Tuesday in Marquette. The Finnish-Americans gathered to honor Finland's independence from Russia.
Finland Calling's Carl Pellonpaa emceed the event at the Masonic Center in downtown Marquette. Guest speakers read a letter from the Finnish president in English, Finnish, and Swedish.
Finland became an independent state on December 6, 1917.
