NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- Everybody wants to go home for the holidays, including the animals at UPAWS. That's why the shelter is offering a special deal for cat adoptions this week.

This Thursday, they're offering a five dollar feline special.  All cats over five months old will have a five dollar adoption rate.
    
It's a promotion to help ease the overload of cats and kittens.

"Unfortunately we didn't see a big decrease in fall like we usually do; for instance, in the month of September, we had 63 kittens alone and over 50 cats admitted, so that's more than 100 cats in one month that we go in and we need people out here and adopting," said UPAWS Shelter Manager, Dayna Kennedy.

The five dollar feline special runs from 12 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
