ISHPEMING -- There's a new way to spend your cash and help out local businesses at the same time.

The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce has created "Chamber Bucks" to use in the area.  Organizers say they created the bucks to increase the "buying local" mentality and to keep money in western Marquette County.

Chamber Director Elizabeth Peterson is excited about giving back to the community.

"It made sense to do it now," said Peterson, "and we hope that it will take off and that this really, truly is something that our members and residents want on this end of the county."

The bucks are sold in increments of $25, and 180 Chamber members will accept the gift certificates.

Some of members include The Country Village, Wilderness Sports, and Midtown Bakery.
