ELY TOWNSHIP -- Cliffs Natural Resources' Michigan operations announced that the company has recently donated four automatic external defibrillators to an Upper Peninsula first responder unit.

The Ely Township First Responders received four AED Lifepack 5000s, valued at roughly $2,000 each.  These AEDs are a potential lifesaving tool given to the 12 members of the first responder unit.

"Cliffs recently upgraded their AEDs and felt it was important to donate the units being replaced to a local first responder group that was in need of them," said Kurt Ball, Cliffs Michigan Operations EMS committee chairman.  "This is an asset to the community and will provide a much-needed lifesaving tool for this first responder group."

Ely Township's first responders cover Ely and Tilden Townships.
