ESCANABA -- Escanaba High School students have been working around construction throughout the year, and now it's finally starting to pay off.

Crews completed phase one of the project last January and will wrap up portions of phase two by the end of the week.

The project has included updating classrooms with new technology such as interactive white boards and document cameras, along with efficiency updates like new windows and air handling systems.

School officials say it's been an interesting year for the kids so far.

"The students are getting to see a lot of the new 21st century technology that some of the big cities see as well, and so they're getting to utilize that in a classroom each day," said Assistant High School Principal, Darcy Griebel.

Crews say the main entrance will be completed in the next few weeks, and the whole project should be completed by spring of next year.
