HOUGHTON -- Despite the rainy weather, fans and spectators came out to see rally cars in the Lake Superior Performance Rally.

Fans met with drivers and they were able to see the cars up close.

The course is made up of gravel, sand, county and forest roads.

"We have 41 competitive cars.  Each car's in a different class based on the style, year, make, and model of the car.  They will be vying for overall and class points," said Dean Rushford, co-chair of the LSPR.

The event started Friday, and the second part of the race will be at the downtown L'Anse Marina where fans will get a second chance to view the rally cars and meet with drivers.

The finish line is located at the Country Inn and Suites in Houghton.
