DELTA COUNTY -- The Delta County Jail needs to be fixed, and the county board has approved bids to get the job done.
Bell Roofing of Marquette is doing the roof repairs. The roof is deteriorated and needs to be replaced. That phase will cost $142,000.
The board had three bids for the electrical and mechanical portion of the project.
Escanaba's Richies' Refrigeration and Air Conditioning will be updating the ventilation. The cost for that portion is $192,000.
"In the annex, there's air conditioning and there's heat and air exchange," said Jail Administrator, Lt. Jason Thibeault. "In the old part of the jail, there's just heat. There's no air conditioning. There's no air exchange, except for the windows that we do open."
The repairs are expected to begin late October or in the middle of November and will be completed before Christmas.
