HOUGHTON -- The list is out for the nation's best colleges, and Michigan Tech climbed in its rankings.

The university and three other Michigan schools ranked among the top universities in the nation.

US News & World Report's 2012 edition of “Best Colleges” ranked Michigan Tech 115 in the nation; the school climbed six spots since 2010.

Rankings are based on student and teaching quality, infrastructure, salaries and other factors.

“It recognizes that Michigan Tech provides a high quality location,” said MTU Provost Max Seel.  "We’ve done it for 125 years, and employers continue to look for our students, and we have currently 225 companies signed up for the upcoming career fair, up from 165.”

Michigan State University, University of Michigan and Western Michigan University all made the list.
