MARQUETTE -- Governor Snyder recently presented the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum with the "Reinventing Michigan" award for their innovation and interactive programs for kids.

The Children's Museum was given the award in a presentation on August 16.

The museum received the award for their unique contribution to the area's youth and revitalization of West Baraga Avenue.

Museum officials say it's easy to keep reinventing when children are the ones designing it.

"Those children that designed this place 18 years ago are now parents, they're bringing their children, those children that volunteered here have their children volunteering here, in a way we have to reinvent because we've got new voices," said Programming Director, Jim Edwards.

Governor Snyder said the museum's creative, hands-on exhibits are helping spark ideas in a new generation of entrepreneurs.
