MUNISING -- Last year, a Munising resident decided to walk to Detroit to deliver some sisu. This past weekend, he finally completed the journey.
Last year Joe Paquette made an 18-day trip to Detroit to deliver the Lions some "sisu," however, he was unable to walk across the Mackinac Bridge. (According to Wikipedia, Sisu is a Finnish term loosely translated into English as strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity.)
Pedestrians are only allowed on the bridge during the Labor Day Bridge Walk.
Thanks from a little help from some local representatives, Paquette made up the final five miles with the govenor's group.
"I contacted State Representative Lindberg and he made arrangements through Senator Casperson and together they, a nice bipartisan effort on their part, we were able to get up there with their group and be the first ones to take off in the morning," said Paquette.
Paquette says he hopes the last five miles he walked last weekend will give the Lions the five miles they need to win the Super Bowl.
