MARQUETTE -- The YMCA of Marquette is gearing up for its annual shutdown on Tuesday, but this year when the facility opens again next week, members can expect to see some changes.
On Tuesday, the YMCA will begin a $25,000 renovation project to the wellness center. They'll remove the carpeting and put in a new recycled rubber floor. The fitness equipment will also be rearranged to create more space, and the entire facility will be cleaned out and freshened up.
"We'll be draining the pool, cleaning it out, refinishing the pool deck as well as the gym and group exercise room floors," said Health & Wellness Director Jenna Zdunek. "We'll be doing a lot of painting, redoing the tiles in the locker rooms, and just really cleaning and sprucing things up from top to bottom."
Officials at the YMCA say members can go to the Negaunee YMCA until the facility opens again on September 6.
