MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Dozens of cats and dogs in need of a home were adopted at Wednesday's "Collars for a Cause" event.
For four years, FOX Marquette has been hosting an adoption fair outside their showroom, and they cover the adoption fees for the animals to encourage people to bring them home. These fees are usually over $100.
UPAWS says their shelter is packed with pets, and they're happy to see so many of them finding owners.
"The need is urgent, it's very urgent right now. We are filled to the ceiling with homeless animals, and they didn't ask to be there. They need homes; they want to be in homes," said Ann Brownell of UPAWS.
If you didn't have a chance to attend the adoption fair, UPAWS is open daily from noon to 4 p.m. UPAWS is located approximately one mile off US-41 at 84 Snowfield Road in Negaunee Township just east of the TV6/FOX UP station.
