TILDEN TOWNSHIP -- An Ishpeming man was taken into custody after allegedly leading police on a chase while improperly driving an ORV on a road.

According to the Michigan State Police, troopers saw an ORV being driven on County Road 581, Tilden Township, in the early morning hours of Sunday.  They tried to pull the driver over for improper lane use and for operating an ORV on the roadway.

The ORV driver lead troopers on a chase from CR 581 to County Road PPV/CD, then to Lawer Road.  It ended when the ORV driver tried to travel down a two-track trail off of private property and hit a tree.

The 31-year-old driver was not hurt but was taken into custody for fleeing and eluding and OWI.  His name is being withheld pending arraignment.
