IRON MOUNTAIN -- Nearly one year and $50,000 in free dental work later, the Carefree Dental Clinic of Dickinson and Florence Counties is still going strong.
The non-profit dental clinic is located in the Northern Michigan Bank Building in Iron Mountain and provides free dental care to those in need.
The clinic has 35 volunteers, including 10 local dentists, donating their time. In the 10 months of the clinic's existence, more than 340 patients have had $50,000 worth of dental work done.
"It's been very, very rewarding, and some of the most rewarding parts are obviously working with the people and caring for them and taking care of them," said Carefree Dental Dentist, Ted Fornetti. "But also seeing the dentists come together and seeing the community come together."
The clinic is open every Friday from 8 a.m.-12:00 p.m. If you would like to donate to the clinic, call the Salvation Army at (906) 779-5717.
