WEST BRANCH TOWNSHIP -- The West Branch Township board decided to continue with their plan to auction off the former "W" building at Sawyer.
The plan is to auction off the remaining contents of the building to recoup the amount still owed on the building by the township. This comes after Community Hand Up failed to get the money from the county to buy the building.
The board has been in contact with a Wisconsin company that would handle the auction.
"We don't want the county, the township, or Forsyth Township or anybody else to get stuck with this rundown building, so if we do sell it with the idea of gutting it, it's still going to be the idea that there's going to be a surety bond or something in place so that when they're done, the building is actually destroyed, leveled, and there's nothing left there but lot," said West Branch Township Supervisor, Jack Heidtman.
Board members say they would like to see the building and its assets auctioned by this winter.
