The Love List

MARQUETTE -- Romance turns fantastical in this summer's play, The Love List.  The plot revolves around a gypsy dating service, a little different from our more conventional matchmaking techniques.

"There's an element of a mystical about it.  It's also very funny.  It's got a really interesting premise--things happen that you don't really expect, so that's always fun," said actor Jeff Spencer.

The love list is a close-knit production with only three actors and a handful of crew.  This created a relaxed atmosphere that benefited the comedic elements of the show, according to actor Monica Nordeen.

"I really enjoy it because we can really spend some time to craft some funny moments in the show.  We've had a lot of opportunity to work together and get to know each other and just really polish things to make it a fun, tight comedy," said Nordeen.

The Frazier Boathouse venue, which houses the production, may provide another cool incentive to come and watch.  Those seeking to beat the heat can take comfort in the air-conditioned environment inside the multi-functional boathouse.

Tickets are available at the Lake Superior box office in the Lower Harbor Park and by phone at (906) 227-ROCK.

The Love List runs Wednesday through Sunday over the next few weeks.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for kids.  The doors open at 7 p.m. with the play beginning at 7:30 p.m.
