HOUGHTON -- Upper Michigan's Green Aviation Coalition continues its efforts to attract new members and develop business opportunities in an environmentally friendly industry.
Representatives from Bombardier and Lockheed Martin were in attendance at Tuesday afternoon's Green Aviation Conference in Houghton. Those are just two of the big names interested in working with U.P. companies in recycling old and developing new technology.
Houghton County is focusing on research in green aviation technology that could be used by the military.
"Many local companies are very familiar with how to deal with the military and how to work in that space," said KEDA Executive Director Phil Musser. "This is a really good extension for use and a way to use our competitive advantages to create some additional jobs here."
Delta County and Marquette County are also a part of the coalition, but organizers say they hope people and businesses from other areas in the U.P. will take interest in the worldwide collaboration.
