HOUGHTON -- A preliminary hearing for two Copper Country teens accused of raping a girl continued Thursday.
Benjamin Hyrkas, 18, and 17-year-old Devin Angers are each facing multiple charges from the incident which took place last February.
On Thursday, the court heard eyewitness testimony detailing how underage drinking and a game of strip poker led to accusations of sexual assault.
The preliminary exam continued Thursday morning with testimony from Amy Kangas, a close friend of the victim who was present when the alleged assault occurred.
After a few hours of drinking and games at a place called The Shack, Kangas said the defendants began taking turns having sex with her friend, who she says appeared to be unconscious or asleep. Kangas said her friend only found out what had happened the next morning.
"She said that she feels like they took complete advantage of her because she was so drunk," said Kangas.
There are still several witnesses to testify so the hearing was scheduled to continue on July 21.
Hyrkas and Angers are both facing a count of third degree criminal sexual conduct among other charges and are facing up to 15 years in prison.
