LANSING -- Thirty-five new State Police troopers have received their assignments after graduating from Trooper Recruit School.

Three of the new troopers are from Upper Michigan.  Kyle Kelley of Gladstone has been assigned to the Gaylord Post, Christopher Gerard of Baraga will be stationed at the Wayland Post, and Alex Zamarron of Munising, who received the Academic Achievement Award, was assigned to the Lakeview Post.

They will report for duty next week.

State Police screened over 800 candidates.  Of the 38 potential troopers who reported to the academy, 35 graduated.

This was the first Trooper Recruit School held since 2008 when 83 new troopers graduated.
