MARQUETTE -- If you see bags of food by your neighbor's mailboxes Friday, it's because the 19th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is going on.

Saturday, mail carriers across the country will be collecting food while making their rounds.  Just leave your non-perishable food items in a plastic bag out by your mail box by around 9 a.m. and they'll pick it up.

All of the food goes to local food pantries, such as the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul.

"The food banks are always empty.  It seems there's food drives all the time in Marquette County and people are very generous," said Larry Kuhn of the Marquette Post Office.  "But the food banks keep running empty, so this really helps fill them up."

Last year the Marquette Post Office collected over 13,000 pounds of food, and they're hoping to collect even more this year.
