IRON MOUNTAIN -- It's still very early in the political season, but one presidential hopeful made his way through Upper Michigan Wednesday.  Republican John Davis stopped in several U.P. counties, including Dickinson.

Davis is a self-employed home builder from Grand Junction, Colorado who says he's looking to fix America.  His platform includes balancing the budget, reducing the size of government, bringing the troops home, and controlling the borders.

Davis says he's an alternative to career politicians.

"I'm a blue collar worker.  I've been self-employed.  I've got business experience over 30 years.  All I am is a common sense problem solver.  That's what I like to do, and I think that's going to be refreshing," said Davis.

So far Davis has visited 558 counties and plans on visiting every county nationwide before the 2012 election.
