200 kids turn out for egg hunt
POWERS -- Many may be getting into the Easter spirit by preparing for an egg hunt Sunday. It can be tricky finding great hiding spots for a few eggs, but try hiding 3,000. That's the task they faced at Pinecrest Medical Facility Saturday.
I haven't gone on an Easter egg hunt for 10 years, but when I heard there'd be thousands of eggs in Powers Saturday morning, I was sure I'd take home a prize.
More then 200 kids, ages 10 and younger than a year old, had a leg up on me--they knew what they were doing.
"You try to get a lot of eggs, and it's not just about winning, it's about having fun," says seven-year-old Sarah Synder.
In just three minutes, all of the eggs had already been collected.
"It's a lot of fun because the kids love it, but it doesn't take long," says organizer Lynn Schoen. "But the kids have fun."
Fun that takes quite a bit of work to put together. Parent volunteers from local schools helped stuff the eggs with candy and prize slips, and there were a lot of eggs to fill.
So how do you hide 3,000 eggs?
"You can't hide 3,000 eggs," says organizer Vicki Synder. "They are just scattered about on the lawn, and the children count down, and it's a free for all."
