It’s been a few years since the local United Steelworkers Union last had a contract, but today they cast their ballot on the latest New Page proposal.

There are 817 members of USW Local 21, and officials expect at least 750 of them will vote.

A yes vote means that workers are accepting the contract as it's proposed.

This would allow job cuts.

And there are currently 26 job cuts on the line.

Union officials are hoping for a no vote, because they say the current proposed contract offers unsafe working conditions and lack of training.
