Warm weather will wither

Sunshine and high temperatures approaching 60 in many places are probably getting most of you in the mood for spring. This warm up, however, will be very short-lived.

An approaching cold front is actually one of the drivers behind our warmth today, as southwesterly winds will filter warmer air up from the southwest. Sunshine (and the sun's higher azimuth angle this time of the year) is the other big part of that. With the arrival of that front, though, both of those things will be cut into.

Clouds will increase from the west late tonight, and tomorrow afternoon a round of showers will move through the U.P. The showers will be light, but the clouds will make for a not-so-brilliant day. Temperatures should still manage to hit the low 50s just ahead of the front, but winds shifting to the northwest behind it spell the beginning of the end for the spring-like weather. Thursday's highs will likely only reach the low 40s at most, possibly not leaving the 30s along the Lake Superior shoreline.

That's not going to be all she wrote for the cooler weather, though. If you've got outdoor weekend plans, you should head over to the weather page before finalizing anything.
